Put the DIY Computer Desk in an area that is well ventilated. Place the desk on a large piece of cardboard or an old plate. Removing hardware and drawers from the desk and standing boxes so that the fronts are facing upwards. Wipe the top, drawer fronts and the sides of the metal desk clean with a damp cloth. If your desk is older and have praised it, use a steel brush to scratch the rust away then walk back over it with a damp cloth. If rust is serious, use a chemical rust stripper such as Sophos, which can be purchased at your local hardware store. This should clean the desk of rust.
Stand back from the DIY Computer Desk about a foot or two; spray a thin layer of spray primer onto the surface of the desk. Allow to dry as instructed on the jar. When the primer has dried use a spray paint sprayer that can be purchased on any color or larger hardware store. Spray your first layer on the desktop. Add a second and third layer as needed.
